What is Plastic Surgery?
Plastic surgery is a branch of surgery which is concerned with the correction and restoration of a body part or function. It is something that has been growing in popularity over the last few years. It is a procedure that involves surgically fixing the flaws on a person’s face or body. A person may choose to have this type of surgery if he or she has a birth defect, been involved in an accident that caused disfigurement, or simply just insecure about his or her appearance. Today’s medical advances have made it possible just to fix just about every flaw that a person may have. Some of the most popular types of plastic surgery procedures include: liposuction, rhinoplasty, and breast augmentation.
Liposuction is a procedure that is done to help a person lose excess body weight by sucking fat from specific areas of the body. This procedure was once known as something that was invasive, required a lot of recovery time, and had a high risk of complications; today medical advances have made this procedure much less invasive. Tumescent and laser liposuction both use cutting edge technology to get the job done. Those procedures are minimally invasive and allow a patient to recover much more quickly than he or she would with traditional lipo.
Rhinoplasty, which is also known as a nose job, is a procedure that is done to alter the appearance of the nose. People who perceive their noses as being too large, crooked, or misshapen are considered good candidates for this type of surgery. Breast augmentation is a procedure that involves surgically changing the breast. There different types of breast augmentation include: breast lift, breast reduction, and breast implants. A breast lift involves lifting and re shaping the breast. A breast reduction takes away excess fat and skin from the breast to make the smaller. Breast implants requires the insertion of silicon to make the breasts bigger.
While cosmetic surgery can change a person’s life and appearance drastically, it is certainly not recommended for everyone. A person’s health and finances are two major things that have be taken into consideration before deciding to go under the knife. Additionally, the risks must be weighed against the benefits when deciding if this type of surgery is right for an individual.
