Physiotherapy

June 9th, 2008 by admin

My dad went home so late again today. He has been working for almost twelve hours everyday because he needed to. His boss is counting on him and they don’t have that much manpower as of now. It has been three months and I know that my dad is not that strong for this kind of work load but he has to do it. He doesn’t want to loose his job and he wants us to get what we need, of course, as long as he is working.

I pity my dad at times because he only comes home to sleep, eat and then prepare to go back to the office. He needs physiotherapy at this moment because he is not getting any younger and he has work load like the President. I know that back physiotherapy will be overwhelming for him. My friend introduced me to this site when he consulted this sports physiotherapy clinic. He said he was relieved and got back on track in the next days. I will call his boss if I have to just to let him go to this physiotherapy clinic.

Internship Experience

June 5th, 2008 by admin

Having to learn a lot of things about medicine makes me feel that I am a better person. I help people recover from what they have been going through and help them with their needs as long as I can, medically. Being a nursing student is a great job for me in the future because I am having fun with it and I am comfortable even if sometimes I see people die right in front of me, but I have to look at the brighter side, I still help save people lives.

Me and my friend were invited by one of the doctor’s in the hospital I was doing my internship. He is going to a drug rehabilitation and alcohol rehab centers. I was thrilled because I will get the chance to see the other side of the healing world aside from the hospital I am working at. I did an alcohol research a few days back because we have the chance to talk to patients for free. Better be ready for it because I was also thinking of making a short speech in my class about it when I get back this Monday.

Common eye problems

May 28th, 2008 by admin

Today, eye condition problems are prevalent due to some constant strain in the eyes that can’t be avoided. There are three common vision problems among people and they are often referred to as refractive errors. Hyperopia or commonly known as farsightedness is when the light entering the eyes goes directly at the back of retina rather than straight to it. The result is that he or she can have difficult seeing object that are close by. Myopia or nearsightedness is the opposite of hyperopia as the light goes in the front of the retina. Majority of the population suffer from this as they can only see things with in specific range. Astigmatism is when the cornea is oval rather than spherical. When one has astigmatism, they may encounter distortion in areas of vision, eyestrain and often headaches.

Generally these problems can be cured and is highly depended on the severity of the case. Some ophthalmologist prescribes eye glasses or contact lens. If you want a permanent one, they can advice a refractive surgery or laser procedure. It is a surgery that can remove the refractive state of the eye. This can definitely stop the need for wearing glasses or contacts. Make sure to check with an eye doctor so they can examine the case well and give proper advice.

Family History

May 24th, 2008 by admin

I have a big problem today. I woke up this morning trying to reach for my contact lens and I was surprised that I did not see it in my desk. I am so worried because I have a poor vision and it is hard for me to work without my contacts on. I called my friend to ask her if she can accompany me to the eye center because I cannot go alone because of the poor vision I have. She said she is free today and she is very much happy to come with me. She knows my eye problem since high school days and she understand why I need to wear my contact lenses everyday I go to school. And now that I am working, I can’t afford to not have one on my eyes because my field of work needs it a lot. I got this poor vision maybe because my family history is such. My dad had to wear eyeglasses since elementary days and so is my mom. Now I am the one experience the hardship of not being given an eye sight of 20/20. It is amazing that my sister who is younger than me have a better vision than we all do in the family and I thank god for that. I always advice her to take good care of her eyes and eat Vitamin A rich food because it will help her attain a good eye sight.

Juicy Conversation

May 24th, 2008 by admin

It has been awhile since I last saw my sister who had her vacation abroad with my other sister and I just missed them so much. I was not able to go with them because of my classes. I just asked them to buy me an eyeglasses made there because I heard they have fashionable one like designer eyeglasses patterned from my prescription eyeglasses from my ophthalmologist. They promised me that they will surely buy that for me because she knows I love it so much. They also know that I have eye problem and I need it very bad.

I am going to go to the airport to fetch them up even if it is 4 in the morning. I have rented a car anyway so it will not be hard for me to fetch them up. I rented a big one to accommodate their baggage. I am so excited to see them once more and be with them. I promised that next vacation, I will see to it that I can join them so that we will have a fun summer together. I have asked our cook to cook their favorite dishes so that we will have a sumptuous meal together and have some juicy conversation about their trip and their destinations.

Benefits of Contact Lenses over Eyeglasses

May 23rd, 2008 by admin

People who suffer from vision problems understand the frustration of dealing with a pair of eyeglasses. First of all finding a pair of eyeglasses that fits, is your prescription, is comfortable, and looks good on you is a difficult task in itself. Then keeping this one pair of glasses intact and free of scratches and other damage is even more difficult, and nearly impossible if you plan on playing any sports. With all the advancements in technology, contact lenses are growing in popularity as more and more people are switching over to contact lenses to reap the vision benefits.

Some of the major benefits of switching over to pair of contact lenses are:

Wider View- Contact lenses don’t block your peripheral vision like eyeglass frames do.

More Natural & Stable Vision- Contact lenses don’t fog up or need to be wiped down.

More Comfortable- Contact lenses don’t pinch your nose like eyeglasses do.

More Choices of Sunglasses- You can now choose your own sunglasses because they don’t need to be prescription eyeglasses since you will be wearing your contacts!

As you can see there is strong evidence to support that contact lenses are more advantageous for your vision in comparison with eyeglasses. However, contact lenses aren’t the perfect solution for everyone as some people still prefer to wear glasses. It’s really a personal choice but when making it you should really consider all the benefits you gain when switching to a pair of contact lenses.

Caring for the Ears

May 12th, 2008 by admin

These days, people enjoy different things whenever they are inside or outside of the house. We never get bored at these times because there are ots of things that we can enjoy. Youth, for example enjoy things like singing and listening to music. They love  almost all of the genres of songs that are coming out especially rock music. As we all know, rock music tends to be so loud that sometimes we forget to put on our Hearing Protection to prevent deafness. Most kids these days doesn’t care about loud music because they think that as long as their ears can handle it, they can carry on.

We have to use Ear Plugs to prevent deafness in time. Most people doesn’t care about their ears because there are not so many people getting deaf because they don’t care too much about them. But they are wrong. All the things can be prevented and it is definitely better than cure. So weather you are parent who wants to take care of the ears of your young ones or a musician, whose life is all about hearing music, start caring for your ears and have those musician ear plugs on because you’ll never know, you might be a candidate for deafness in years…

Good thing about Vaporizer

May 9th, 2008 by admin

While browsing the internet looking for solution to my father’s smoking habit, I came across to a website that offers volcano vaporizer. According to my research volcano vaporizers can server as an alternative to smoking. The good thing about volcano vaporizer is it can release the active ingredients of herbs via vaporization of hot air. It is best for smokers I believe because instead of smoking they could get the herbs that strengthen our body from disease.

I would like to order this volcano vaporizer because I think this will help my fathers smoking habit lessen or even stop. I’ll update you on these topic. I might use it as well because I love herbs and other healthy treatment. Life is too short, we should take care of our health and be conscious of what you’re taking in your body because it might hurt you in the end.
